Upgraded Tambour-ID system and new tags with longer reading distance

Our TambourID solution has now become even more flexible thanks to a new communication board which enables communication even with old Premid/OIS-P hosts with the original configuration. As before, it can also function as a TCP/IP system where no polling interface is needed, previously an interface was needed to send ASCII character B to get the buffer read-out, but now this is handled by the new communications board. The new board also simplifies operation without a photo-electric switch.

Later this year, we will introduce a new TambourID tag fully compatible with our 134,2kHz system. We have increased the size of the coil, which enable us to read the tag at larger distances than before. More about this new tag in a coming newsletter.

We have put together a short system description of our Tambour-ID solution that can be downloaded from our website here: Link to Tambour-ID pdf.

New products in the EVS144 barcode reader family!

EVS144ng, a new and updated read head for the EVS144-family, and a totally new Pan Tilt where we redesigned not only the outside but also the inner mechanics and electronics of our previous model.

The EVS144NG is equipped with a state-of-the-art camera module and has a much higher performance than our previous models, reading distance up to 16 meters, improved autofocus and built-in lighting. It is IP67 classed and can work in temperatures down to -30C.

Our new Pan Tilt unit might resemble the previous model, but it is fully rebuilt with modern technology.
Based on robotics technology, it is fully programmable and can be controlled with precise movements.
The interface is also accessible for control from external applications, increasing the adaptability to customers’ needs.

The new units are compatible with our previous EVS144 range for upgrading.

We will release more information further on, but if you are already interested in the new products, contact us through the email below.

Using our EVS144 Line reader in the forest industry

Ident System AB EVS144 Line camera is a code reader in the EVS144 series that is easy to install because of its small dimensions. The Line reader in the series is an excellent choice for use in-, as well as  outdoors, as it both is capable of reading codes in strong sunlight, as well as being equipped with an external light that makes it possible to read even in dark environments, or outdoors at night time. It excels at reading badly printed codes, as well as inverted codes – for example when using stainless laser-etched barcodes in the wood industry.
The line camera uses a fixed-focus system and have a reading range of 2-6 meter (x-dimen = 2 mm).

EVS144 Line camera has a joystick-controlled movable read-head which makes it suited for both fixed mounting such as entrance areas or conveyor belts, or forklift mounted.

The long reading distance, depth of sharpness and ability to read a wide range of codes as well as inverted codes, codes punched in metal sheets or low quality printed codes makes this a truly versatile series for use in harsh environments where reading conditions and/or a large flexibility to read a range of code types and object sizes are present.

Reliable Tambour-ID in paper processing industry

In paper manufacturing plants there is often a large number of machine rolls awaiting further processing, and it’s important to know which roll is which, and when it enters the processing, to know what to do with it. Any identification errors might lead to the wrong treatment of the paper roll and are expensive.

This can all be avoided by Identsystem AB’s RFID Tambour-ID system.

Identsystem AB’s Tambour-ID system is made for rough and dusty environments and communicates via a standard protocol, making it easy to integrate and compatible with older systems. The system is also compatible with older OIS-P systems.

The system consists of readers connected to the present Mill Executive System and will keep track of Tambour-ID, orientation and acceptable destinations. The Tambour-ID system easily integrates with various MES e.g. Honeywell Optivision, ABB Automation, Paperline and similar systems.

EVS138 Imager for Pallet handling

Ident System EVS138 Imager is a barcode scanner designed for mobile forklift mounting used for pallet handling. To enable use with double pallets EVS138 was designed with the possibility of connecting several cameras in parallel in order to scan a wider area.

Dual-mounted EVS138 on forklift.

EVS138 imager will read all common barcodes and 2D codes. It is based on the latest matrix technology and can withstand the tough industrial environments of forklift truck applications, including the shock and vibration stresses. It can also be supplied with its own heating element for use in freeze storages or outdoors in cold environments down to minus 30 degrees Celcius.

EVS138 can also be integrated with RFID readers such as our Ideal125, for positional readings of floor-embedded tags. The EVS138 imager autofocus and built-in error correction capabilities allow it to read codes of varied quality at distances between 0,2 m up to 13 m.

Benefits of using EVS144 Barcode reader

There are many reasons to use a forklift-mounted code reader. First, ergonomics and the working environment becomes better with a reader mounted on the lift. In all situations of cargo handling, it is important to reduce the handling as far as possible in order to minimise damage to the cargo, and if you ensure correct handling the number of errors are reduced and both customer and supplier can save money. Error in the warehouse can also be minimised at the same time as the risk of sending the wrong product to the customer is less.
If you also combine the EVS144 reader with a positioning system (by RFID), you can have almost 100% control over warehouse transfers and transactions. By always doing the right thing, the environmental impact is also lessened.

Summary of the benefits of EVS144:

  • Improved working environment/ergonomics
  • Minimised handling of cargo
  • Less damage on the cargo
  • Less or no stock handling errors
  • Fewer erroneous deliveries
  • Reduced environmental impact

Identsystem Ethernet-connected 500E LF–reader

IdentSystem 500E LF reader is a compact, easy to use LF reader capable of reading both 125 kHz and 132.5 kHz tags. 500E is ideal for tracking items on conveyor belts, pallet conveyors as well as CNC machinery.
Configuration of the unit is done through a user-friendly web interface from your browser and configuration through a serial terminal is also available.
To further simplify usage, the reader uses our standard (and custom RFID LF-antennas). Note that there are some limitations to the size of antennas that can be used.

  • 125 and 134,2 kHz operating frequency
  • Read-Only + Read/Write
  • Ethernet connection to PC for communication and data transfer
  • Configuration by web interface or serial terminal connection
  • Wide range of antennas is available.
  • Reading distance depending on tag, antenna and environment
  • Support the following tags:
    125kHz: HITAG1, HITAG2, HITAG3, Q5, EM4x02, EM4x05 (ISO FDX B), EM4x50, TI-RFID.
    134.2kHz: 64bit R/O (8 bytes R/O), 64bit R/W (8 bytes R/W), 1088 bit multipage (117×8 byte R/W)

IDeal 134 RFID reader for Tambour-ID applications

IdentSystem’s Ideal134 RFID reader is not installed in nice papermills Tambour-ID system all over the world.

Our solution makes system design very flexible since we can design both the tags for different tambour sizes and types of metal surroundings as well as tailor-make antenna sizes and shapes depending on positionening needs. Antannas can also be fine-tuned for optimal readability, even in difficult environments.

The system can both replace the Baumer Ident OIS-P and is ideal for new installations. Ideal134 give the user full traceability back to master systems such as MES and similar and is invaluable for operators to avoid errors in handling and to trace production and quality data.

The IDeal134 reader connects to the present Mill Executive System and will keep track of Tambour-ID, orientation and acceptable destinations. The Tambour-ID system easily integrates with various MES e.g. Honeywell Optivision, ABB Automation, Paperline and similar systems.
